Set for a partial opening in January 2025, City College of San Francisco’s highly anticipated STEAM Building will serve as the new home for the Arts, Biology, and Chemistry departments. Designed to enrich interdisciplinary learning, the facility represents a major investment in innovation and hands-on education.
Bringing this vision to life required collaboration with general contractor Rudolph & Sletten and over fifty vendors. ISEC played a key role in equipping highly advanced labs and creative spaces, providing custom wood laboratory casework, fume hoods, and specialized arts equipment—contributing approximately $7.9 million in revenue.
The project presented unique challenges, from meeting rigorous seismic safety requirements to ensuring compliance with NAAWS premium-grade standards while integrating Kewaunee’s catalog wood casework. With diverse disciplines under one roof—spanning microbiology, ceramics, chemistry, and even jewelry-making, the team tailored solutions for each space, from kilns to custom casework for embalming tables.
With its fusion of science and the arts, the STEAM Building promises to be more than just a learning space—it showcases the impact of thoughtful design, precision engineering, and a shared commitment to education.
